Throwback Thursday: NWA
Today’s Throwback Thursday comes from one of the greatest rap groups of all-time. A group that once had the FBI trying to shut them down because they were talking about the harsh reality of a nigga in the hood in the 90′s. At one point they were labeled “The World’s Most Dangerous Group” because they were “Niggaz Wit Attitude”.
Now I’m pretty sure some of you never heard a NWA album but I’m here to tell you that you are missing out. This is the group that started “Gangster Rap”, this is the group that was one of the first to have a Parental Advisory sticker on their album. This was the group that basically told America “fuck you we’re talking about what goes on in our city.” If you’re a fan of hip-hop, rap, trap music, or whatever you niggas are calling it now pay homage to NWA.
Coming from Compton and growing up in the 80′s and 90′s each member of NWA had to story to tell. Dressed in all black with their LA Raiders hats you can tell NWA played no games and came into the rap game to prove a point. With Dr. Dre on the beats and Ice Cube writing the lyrics how can a group such as them not make classic music?
One of the reasons I picked NWA as a Throwback song is because there’s a movie coming out soon about the group. Rumor has it Ice Cube and Eazy E’s sons will have roles in the movie. I hope the movie is dope and doesn’t ruin the image I have of the great group. Let’s hope it goes into detail behind the break up and also the diss records that were recorded afterwards. Looks like we’ll just have to wait.
